We are blessed here on Vancouver Island to have an incredibly mild climate. Allowing for even the most challenging of outdoor projects to be tackled in the fall and winter months. Though most projects fall into certain seasons.
Custom gardens, decks, fences and outdoor projects from March to June as clients try to complete things for enjoyment of their space over the summer.
Indoor projects such as suite renovations tend to occur over the summer months as client ponder adding additional accommodation.
Moving a grown child into the space while they attend college or university. A place for elder family members as an alternative to assisted living. Or for additional income source to help with the rising cost of living.
During the winter months, I have many requests for custom pieces. As the weather is chilly and time is spent indoors clients note the need for a larger desk, a custom gaming table or dining table, a closet organization system.
While I’ll take on projects anytime of year, there are common timing trends. After all these years working wood, one understands the need to develop the skills needed to remain busy year round. After all, not every client thinks about building a deck in January.
They say idle hands are the devils workshop. With a passion for wood working, I’d prefer to be in my workshop keeping my hands busy creating something beautiful than being idle.
